Zimmer Biomet received CE Mark approval and subsequently launched X-PSI™ Knee surgical planning technology in five EU countries.
The system allows surgeons to use x-ray images to generate 3-dimensional anatomic models in preparation for total knee reconstruction. Notably, X-PSI leverages standard-of-care pre-operative x-ray imaging instead of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computerized Tomography scans. The technology complements the company’s Patient Specific Instruments Planner, which is used to develop 3D customized surgical plans and manufacture patient-specific guides and bone models.
X-PSI is Zimmer Biomet’s fourth patient-specific guide offering, and is being launched less than one year after introduction of the Vanguard® Individualized Design total knee.
The system will be initially launched in five countries across the European Union.
