Total Joint Orthopedics (TJO) marked completion of the first 100 procedures using its Platform® Acetabular System. Platform received FDA 510(k) market clearance in September 2022.
Platform Acetabular is part of the Klassic HD Hip system, which is indicated for cementless total or revision hip replacement.
The Platform Acetabular System comprises the best design features from the most successful acetabular constructs and offers the potential for exceptional patient outcomes and survivorship. The Platform® Cup’s Ti-Coat® has an excellent scratch fit for initial fixation and simplified acetabular preparation, allowing for smooth insert placement, with visual and tactile verification of the final seating. Offering a unique insert for each cup size, the Platform® Acetabular System addresses critical concerns about stability, wear, fixation, and the maximum range of motion.
Andrew Morris, TJO’s Vice President of Strategy, said, “Allowing for future compatibility with Aurum® Technology, the Platform Cup strengthens our commitment to eliminating cobalt chrome from total joint replacement.
Aurum, the first step as part of TJO’s multi-year plan to reduce the use of cobalt chrome in orthopedic implants, is currently employed in the company’s Klassic® Knee System.
