Symbios commenced launch of the ORIGIN® CR Total Knee implant, which completes the ORIGIN product range with both monobloc and modular cruciate-retaining versions. These systems will allow surgeons to create custom-made knee replacement implants that preserve the posterior cruciate ligament.
As a cruciate-retaining implant type, ORIGIN CR relies on the same design fundamentals as the ORIGIN PS Total Knee, which has been marketed since 2018 by Symbios. ORIGIN CR intends to restore each individual’s knee alignment, shape and kinematics to improve satisfaction and clinical outcomes.
“The cruciate-retaining market segment corresponds to approximately 50% to 60% of the total primary knee replacement market, depending on geographies and surgical preferences,” said Florent Plé, President and CEO. “Many surgeons have been looking forward to this cruciate-retaining version of our ORIGIN® custom-made knee implant, and as it will correspond better to their surgical preferences. This extension of the ORIGIN® product range opens up a wide field of market opportunities for Symbios, and will contribute to making custom-made knee replacement accessible to more and more patients around the world.”
