Studies indicate that Rotation Medical’s collagen-based bioinductive implant induced new tissue formation in all 13 patients with rotator cuff tears. The results are published in the Muscle, Ligaments and Tendons Journal.
The implant, inserted arthroscopically, induced significant new tissue formation in all patients by three months, and the tissue matured over time to become radiologically indistinguishable from the underlying tendon. No tear progression was observed in any patients at two years post-op.
The collagen-based implant is about the size of a postage stamp, and is accompanied by disposable instruments.
In August 2016, the company completed a US $12MM Series B extension financing, with proceeds supporting U.S. commercialization of its rotator cuff repair system.
