Stryker Instruments launched System 8 power tools, offering improved ergonomics and higher-capacity battery cells when compared to its predecessor, System 7. System 8 also introduces EZout Powered Acetabular Revision, a complete power tool offering for hip revision that reportedly allows surgeons to consistently remove an acetabular cup in three to five minutes.
Three previously-independent dedicated handpieces are now included in the System 8 family:
- System 8 cordless driver for sports medicine and orthopaedic trauma procedures
- System 8 SABO Sagittal Saw, a lighter-weight iteration of Stryker’s SABO Saw
- Stryker Precision Saw with Precision Falcon Cartridges
Further, System 8 is the first in a series of smart devices that will connect to Smart Equipment Management, an online data module designed to help optimize management of smart devices through device-derived, actionable data.
Stryker is displaying its technologies at AAOS 2017 in Booth #3133.
