Spinal Elements introduced its MIS Ultra™ platform, a suite of minimally invasive integrated instruments and implantable devices designed to optimize spinal fixation and restoration while minimizing the unintended consequences of spine surgery and reducing procedural complexity.
The suite is designed to move past a focus on incision size. Instruments are made to reduce the disruption of skeletal and muscle tissue, and implants have been designed to balance the loads shared between the implants and the body, while not disrupting the surrounding healthy anatomy.
Further, MIS Ultra products are designed to require less intraoperative imaging, thus reducing the need for radiation-emitting equipment.
The Katana™ Lateral Access System (pictured above) is the most recent MIS Ultra platform release, supporting a complete procedural solution for lateral spine surgery. Katana seeks to minimize the unintended consequence of approach-related post-operative thigh pain, while reducing surgical complexity for the surgeon and staff.
