Orthocell Gains EU Patent for Tissue Regeneration Technology

By Julie A. Vetalice

Orthocell was granted a European patent, “Method for Producing a Collagen Membrane and Uses Thereof,” for its CelGro® collagen device for soft tissue regeneration and repair. Other patents have been granted in Australia, Canada, China, New Zealand, Singapore and the U.S.

The customizable collagen platform is designed as an alternative to current synthetic and biologic tissue repair devices, particularly in cell compatibility, tensile strength and the promotion of quality tissue in growth and repair.

CelGro is being studied vs. corticosteroid injection to treat rotator cuff tendinopathy; the trial is a collaboration between Orthocell and DePuy Synthes Products.
