New U.S. Patent Approval for Episurf Medical 3D Visualization

Episurf Medical received another Notice of Allowance from the USPTO. The patent, “Method and node for manufacturing a surgical kit for cartilage repair,” addresses a medical image segmentation process for 3D visualization of anatomical joints. Image segmentation is a part of the technology around Episurf Medical’s individualized joint implants and surgical instruments.

“This is a comprehensive patent for protection in the field of 3D visualization of joints. Image-based segmentation forms the basis for all Episurf Medical’s products, and this is a very exciting and rapidly growing field. This patent complements Episurf Medical’s earlier patents within medical imaging with a broader protection,” said Katarina Flodström, COO.
