Medtronic Kanghui commenced launch of the VariLoc Locking Compression Plate and instrument sets in China, to be followed by select countries.
VariLoc Locking Compression Plate features include:
Anatomical shape, low profile and blunt edges; no need to bend the plate
Cannulated locking screw for optimal compression of intra-articular fractures
Color coding for stock management and size identification
VariLoc will be introduced in a planned geographic pathway throughout 2016, beginning with China, Chile, Kenya, Pakistan, Lithuania, Greece, Poland, Turkey, Thailand and Vietnam. Additional markets are expected in coming months, pending local approvals, excluding the U.S.
Medtronic Kanghui Orthopedics is part of Medtronic’s Restorative Therapies Group. Medtronic acquired China Kanghui in late 2012 for ~US $816MM in cash; Kanghui’s 2011 sales were RMB 327MM (~$52MM). The Restorative Therapies Group has been restructured to better align the business around specific disease states.
