JointPoint announced successful licensing of its ELITE and PRO surgical navigation systems by Health Canada, allowing immediate deployment of these products to hospitals and physicians in the region.
The systems use software algorithms to analyze implant component positioning and anatomical landmarks to provide real-time, actionable data and obviate the need for pins, arrays or other components within the sterile field.
JointPoint’s FDA-cleared solutions are already in use in the U.S.; in 3Q17, the company entered into an exclusive U.S. agreement with DePuy Synthes to co-market a surgical navigation platform for total hip replacement, beginning in 2H17.
