iOrthopedics announced recent patent applications directed to methods of 3D printing its Universally Expanding Cage interbody device.

The 3D-printed device is designed to expand proximally, distally or both (uniformly) for cervical to lumbar arthrodesis.

Based on the company’s parent patents, iOrthopedics expects to receive broad claim allowances for 3D manufacturing of a wide variety of expandable cages. The company most recently announced a U.S. patent in 4Q18.
