In2Bones Global commenced U.S. launch of the Avenger Radial Head™ Prosthesis for primary and revision replacement of the radial head. It is reportedly the first radial head implant to include sterile, single-use instrumentation.
The new system is designed with a smooth stem, shown in multiple long-term studies to provide better clinical outcomes vs. press-fit, ingrowth implant designs. Tapered and short stem options support easier insertion and improved implant stability.
The use of sterile, single-use instruments can provide cost savings of as much as $400 per surgery, increased efficiencies from avoiding long lead times and delays related to on-site sterilizing processes and reduced risks of post-op surgical site infections.
“Currently, radial head implant suppliers ship non-sterile instrument sets nationwide for short-notice cases, which can cause potential delays and can increase costs,” said Jon Simon, Senior Vice President of Marketing. “The Avenger Radial Head System can be placed on shelves and be ready for immediate use, on-demand. Additionally, surgeons and caregivers can be assured that the sharp, precision instrumentation will only ever contact one patient.”
