First Clinical Use of Chunli Medical Handheld Robot

On 18th Aug 2021, Chunli Medical, a large Chinese manufacturer of joint prostheses, completed the first hip surgery with its newly developed handheld robot.

The surgical robot is quite different from the existing armed robot, which is bulky in size. By using the handpiece, the surgeon reams the acetabulum at a controlled angle by the navigation system and workstation, The handpiece will stop automatically and immediately if the reaming is out of range, which is set pre-operatively.

Also, the robot applies to knee surgery, wherein the cutting handpiece is used with the same design philosophy.

Chunli Medical's portfolio includes full product lines of hip, knee, spine, shoulder, elbow and sports medicine products.
