Episurf Medical received another Notice of Allowance from the USPTO, titled “Method and node for manufacturing a surgical kit for cartilage repair.” The patent covers image segmentation used for 3D joint damage visualization as well as the design of patient-specific implants and instruments.
The company’s Episealer® technology pairs an implant with a proprietary set of surgical instruments and a damage marking report for surgical pre-planning. Other U.S. patents gained have addressed manufacturing methods, a surgical drill guide with depth adjustment functionality, the 3D-based assessment of joint lesions, etc. Presently, Episurf has >80 active patents and patent applications, distributed in 20 patent families.
