Episurf announced achievement of the 150th implant of the Episealer® knee system, a patient-specific approach to the treatment of focal cartilage lesions. The milestone occurs less than six months after its 100th case.
Procedures begin with the Epioscopy® process to visualize and assess cartilage damage, thus enabling an implant to be tailored to a patient’s specific anatomy and pathology. This damage assessment tool received CE Mark approval at the beginning of 2016.
Also within 2016, the Episealer system received expanded reimbursement coverage in the EU and the company was granted patents in Australia and the U.S.
