The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is requiring acute care hospitals in 67 U.S. regions to participate in its Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) Model, which compensates hospital providers for an entire episode of care. CJR runs from April 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020. During that period, CMS expects to realize savings of $343 million.
