DePuy Synthes unveiled the VIPER PRIME™ pedicle screw system, designed to reduce the number of instruments, instrument passes and steps required to insert a percutaneous screw in an MIS technique. Full EMEA commercial launch is slated for early 2018.
VIPER PRIME eliminates the need for guidewires, Jamshidi needles and additional pedicle prep instruments, and requires only two instrument trays. Results from one bench test suggest a 33% reduction in the time to insert a pedicle screw vs. traditional MIS techniques.
VIPER PRIME System is presently in limited introduction to healthcare professionals in the EMEA region during educational and industry events.
