Ceterix Orthopaedics completed enrollment in STITCH, a prospective, non-randomized, multi-center investigation of all-suture-based repair of horizontal meniscal tears.
The study, which targeted enrollment of 30 adults under age 60, is assessing repair with the NovoStitch system and other suture-only techniques, noting improvements in pain and function. The first patient was enrolled in 2014.
The NovoStitch meniscal repair system, an alternative to meniscectomy, lets surgeons place stitches arthroscopically in tight joint compartments, addressing complex knee, hip and shoulder injuries. Earlier this month, Ceterix was issued a patent addressing its method to place a suture around a tear in support of meniscus repair.
