ApiFix announced that its Minimally Invasive Deformity Correction (MID-C) technology for correction of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis has been used in >250 patients, to date. The earliest patients are now at six years post-op and >100 patients are now at more than two years post-op.
MID-C is implanted in a minimally invasive procedure, does not require fusion and is designed to retain spinal flexibility. MID-C acts as an “internal brace,” according to ApiFix, that incorporates a patented unidirectional, self-adjusting rod mechanism with motion-preserving polyaxial joints allowing additional non-invasive post-op correction over time and is removable.
The device is CE Mark approved, available throughout Europe and in Israel, Singapore and Canada. It is under review by FDA for a Humanitarian Device Exemption.
