Alphatec Spine (ATEC) launched the Battalion™ Lateral System with Squadron™ Lateral Retractor, completing initial patient surgeries including degenerative, multilevel and L4/L5 segment cases.
The next-generation lateral system is designed to improve clinical outcomes by reducing tissue creep, minimizing psoas retraction time and supporting alignment and fusion objectives.
The Squadron Retractor is compatible with most neuromonitoring platforms, while Battalion Lateral is compatible with the Arsenal Spinal Fixation and Illico MIS Posterior Fixation systems, and is cleared for use with autograft and allograft.
Globus Medical’s 2016 acquisition of Alphatec’s ex-U.S. assets cleared the path for ATEC to solely focus on U.S. launches, such as Battalion Lateral and the XYcor® Expandable Spinal Spacer. Net proceeds from last month’s $18.9MM private placement support this and future launches, as well.
