Acumed Acquires System for Scapholunate Ligament Repair

By Julie A. Vetalice

Acumed acquired the RASL System to treat scapholunate ligament injury from Radicle Orthopaedics. RASL (Reduction and Association of the Scaphoid and Lunate) received FDA 510(k) clearance in 1Q17.

The device complements Acumed’s hand and wrist portfolio, which includes plates and the Acutrak 2® Headless Compression Screw. The transaction closely follows the company's purchase of technology that will support development of a total elbow joint replacement.

“Acumed will continue to build its portfolio to meet the unmet needs of the fellowship-trained Hand and Upper Extremity, Sports Medicine, Foot and Ankle, and Trauma surgeons. We will do this both with organic innovation and with acceleration acquisitions,” stated Jagi Gill, VP/GM of AcuVentures, a subsidiary of Acumed.
