DePuy Synthes launched its Femoral Neck System for hip fracture repair.
The system combines stable fixation in a compact design with a minimally invasive approach that is designed to offer a minimized footprint on the bone and a reduced length of incision, which reduces the surface area where surgical site infection can develop. It features an articulated blade and screw to limit rotational movement on the femoral head and is protective of an anatomic provisional reduction.
The device adds to DePuy’s trauma portfolio, which includes the TFN-ADVANCED Proximal Femoral Nailing System (TFNA), TRAUMACEM V+ Injectable Bone Cement and the Femoral Recon Nail. (DePuy leadership cited uptake in the TFN ADVANCED nailing system as a source of growth for its trauma business in 4Q18.)
