Stryker’s Foot and Ankle business announced the upcoming launch of Hoffmann LRF Hexapod hardware and pre-and post-operative planning tool for deformity correction and limb reconstruction.
The technology pairs the core components of the Hoffmann LRF external fixation system along with additional flexibility of strut offsetting with software. Surgeons are able to upload a patient’s X-ray into the software, which calculates a treatment solution based on the surgeon’s manual input and then creates a patient-specific plan for strut adjustments.
The use of X-rays to streamline the surgical planning process was also recently introduced by Zimmer Biomet for total knee instruments. As surgeons see the value in preoperative planning, the technology is expected to advance by leveraging more common uses of imaging.
