Zimmer Biomet launched the Vanguard® Individualized Design total knee arthroplasty (TKA) construct, designed to support a patient-specific fit with simplified soft tissue preservation and balance.
While traditional total knees comprise a one-piece polyethylene bearing between metal portions of an implant, Vanguard ID incorporates two individual polyethylene bearings with different articulations on the medial and lateral sides. The design allows surgeons to select bearings of differing thickness and geometry for a personalized approach.
Biomet’s original Vanguard Knee debuted in 2003, offering the broadest range of available sizes. The Vanguard portfolio remains a growth driver for Zimmer Biomet, alongside the Oxford and Persona knees.
