ZipLine Medical received Central Drugs Standard Control Organization approval of the Zip® Surgical Skin Closure device in India. The product has numerous applications for the region’s reported $3.5BB medical device market, including use in total joint replacement, foot/ankle procedures, etc.
Zip is intended to replace sutures, staples and glue for closure of surgical incisions. Clinical studies have demonstrated an 18 percentage point higher tissue perfusion rate vs. baseline with the Zip compared to staples after closure in total ankle replacement.
The Zip device has been cleared for marketing in China since the close of 2016.
