Zimmer Biomet Reportedly Breached Deferred Prosecution Deal

By Julie A. Vetalice

Court filings indicate that Biomet breached a 2012 deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) undertaken to resolve a foreign corruption investigation. Terms of the DPA may have been breached based upon conduct in Brazil and Mexico that was disclosed in 2014.

Then-Biomet (now Zimmer Biomet) had entered into the DPA to settle allegations of bribes paid to healthcare providers in Argentina, Brazil and China to secure hospital business.
