Zimmer Biomet marked completion of the first surgical case with the Comprehensive® Augmented Baseplate, a part of the Comprehensive® Reverse Shoulder system.
The baseplate, which received FDA 510(k) clearance in early 1Q18, offers an alternative to bone graft and eccentric reaming of glenoid defects. Its circular design is offered in small, medium and large augment heights (3mm, 5mm and 7mm, respectively) to accommodate varying anatomies, and it features a porous plasma spray coating applied by an outside vendor plus the addition of Zimmer’s Calcicoat coating. The circular design supports fixation by allowing bone ingrowth in the rim of the baseplate.
