Wright Medical announced the first patient implantation in a U.S. follow-up study of the INFINITY™ Total Ankle. The multi-center, non-randomized, prospective 200-patient study will evaluate 10-year implant survivorship using patient-reported outcomes.
The company launched a 500-patient, 10-year postmarket study of the device in the U.K. in 2016. As of 3Q17, 100 patients are enrolled throughout England and Scotland.
The INFINITY total ankle features a low-profile implant with a resurfacing option to preserve talar bone, and its tibial design is compatible with Wright’s INBONE™ II total ankle. INFINITY was launched in 2014, and has been a consistently-cited growth driver for Wright Medical in years since.
