Vertos Medical received U.S. Medicare coverage for mild®, a treatment for lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). The outpatient procedure is performed through a portal the size of a baby aspirin and requires no stitches, general anesthesia, implants or overnight hospital stay.
mild has received national coverage through a claims-analysis study under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Coverage with Evidence Development Program. The study will passively collect and analyze real-world data to demonstrate the role of mild in the path of care for LSS. (CMS’s decision to expand access follows the successful completion of Vertos’ CMS-approved randomized controlled study, MiDAS ENCORE.)
The fluoroscopically-guided neurogenic claudication procedure has been performed on >20,000 patients, and is both FDA-cleared and CE Marked. Peer-reviewed clinical data has demonstrated that mild helps LSS patients stand longer and walk further with less pain.
