Vertos Medical enrolled the first patient into MOTION, a new multicenter two-year U.S. study of the mild® outpatient procedure for minimally invasive treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis.
The novel, prospective, randomized controlled study will use clinically validated, patient-reported outcome measures to identify improvements in pain and function, and will capture participants’ activity levels with Fitbit activity trackers.
The mild procedure removes the cause of stenosis through a portal the size of a baby aspirin. It requires no implants, no general anesthesia, no stitches and no overnight hospital stay. It has been performed on >20,000 patients, and study data to date has demonstrated clinically meaningful and statistically significant improvements in mobility and pain, with no serious device- or procedure-related complications.
