TITAN Metal Fabricators acquired select assets of Edge International, distributor of raw materials used in the manufacture of implants and instruments for the orthopaedic, spine and trauma markets.
TITAN is a global manufacturing and metals distribution firm headquartered in Camarillo, California with additional facilities in Wuxi, China and Yamunanagar, India. This acquisition provides TITAN with a complementary business similar to its Supra Alloys division and includes a warehouse location in Dayton, Ohio to support TITAN’s Midwest and East Coast customer base.
Edge International will operate as a separate brand with its current employees under the guidance of its President, Stephen R. Smith. Established in 1989, Edge specializes in medical grade Cobalt Alloys, Stainless Steels and Titanium for the forging and machining of components. Additional services include precision grinding, precision sawing, non-standard grades and sizes and just-in-time inventory programs.

“Many demands are placed on the supplier to be able to meet OEM requirements. Resources must be available for machine time; plant space must be responsive to new product introductions. It’s more challenging today because the companies themselves, the big OEMs, are much bigger after consolidation. Larger salesforces are covering more hospitals, so rollout demands are much greater. OEMs need large-player suppliers to respond to those.” —Robert Kinsella, President of Kinsella Group, “Suppliers Consolidate in Response to OEM M&A Activity,” ORTHOKNOW® February 2015
