Lima Corporate is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its proprietary 3D printing technology, Trabecular Titanium (TT), initially used on the Lima Delta TT acetabular cup.
The company turned to Electron Beam Melting/EBM to address functional limits of coatings applied to traditional orthopaedic implants, and has partnered with Arcam to further develop the potential of TT technology.
As a result of this partnership, Lima began with acquisition of the first machines and the production of prototypes to study the effects of a material that could potentially mimic trabecular bone.
In 2007, the Lima Delta TT acetabular cup was created, obtained CE Mark approval and was implanted in Italy. Since then, Lima’s TT portfolio has extended from hip to extremities, as well as patient-specific solutions.
