Synergy Biomedical received Therapeutic Goods Administration clearance and commenced launch of BIOSPHERE PUTTY bioactive bone graft in Australia. The product received initial FDA 510(k) clearance in 2013 and CE Mark approval in 2017.
BIOSPHERE PUTTY synthetic bone graft comprises bioactive glass spheres plus a resorbable carrier. The moldable material is compatible with a range of bone grafting techniques, and has been shown in vivo to significantly improve the healing potential of bioactive glass due to its spherical particle shape and optimized, bimodal size range—whereby small particles resorb faster and generate ions more quickly than larger particles, which resorb more slowly and function as a longer-term scaffold for bone formation.
