Orthocell appointed Surgical Specialties as exclusive distributor in Australia and New Zealand for Ortho-ATI® (Autologous Tenocyte Injection) and Ortho-ACI® (Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation) cell therapies for tendon and cartilage regeneration, respectively. The five-year agreement allows Orthocell to focus resources on product development and regulatory approvals.
As noted by Phil Nicholl, CEO of Surgical Specialties, Orthocell has the only cell therapy interventions listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods for cartilage repair in knee and ankle joints. In other applications, Orthocell recently announced patient recruitment in a clinical trial of Ortho-ATI vs. corticosteroid injection to treat rotator cuff tendinopathy.
