Exactech (EXAC) announced positive surgeon feedback on first total shoulder surgeries performed with the ExactechGPS® Guided Personalized Surgery system.
The application combines pre-op planning with intra-op computer-assisted technology; specifically, the shoulder application is designed to guide the preparation of the glenoid in shoulder arthroplasty.
The ExactechGPS Total Shoulder Application is being piloted in Europe and is undergoing premarket review by FDA.
ExactechGPS was first launched in 1Q14 for use in knee TKA. In 1Q15, EXAC acquired BlueOrtho, its partner in development of the technology, and within the same quarter introduced the next-gen version of ExactechGPS.
Within 2016, Integra launched the Fin-Lock™ Glenoid for its Titan™ Modular Shoulder System to address glenoid component loosening and failure in total shoulder arthroplasty. Wright Medical continues to report that ongoing rollout of shoulder products contributes to U.S. shoulder revenue growth, including Simpliciti, which received FDA 510(k) clearance in 1Q15.
