Performance highlights:
- Primary growth drivers remain consistent from past quarters, though now paired with solid performance in Australia, Canada and Europe: 3D printed products, foot/ankle portfolio (claiming very strong double-digit growth), Mako,
- Good momentum with endoscopy/sports medicine business, including 1588 camera
- U.S. spine still affected by supply issues, which should ease in 2Q
- In 2Q, launched System 8 power tools; other 2017 launches include additional 3D-printed products and re-launch of spine products that have been off the market for most of 2016
- In early innings with Tritanium, and noting “tremendous demand and interest from all of our implant businesses for 3D printed products”
Mako update:
- Installed 18 robots overall (11 in the U.S.) and continued to upgrade existing installs; expecting majority of robots in the field will be upgraded throughout 2017 and 2018
- Since launch of total knee application at AAOS, trained >200 surgeons at ~90 locations (U.S. and ex-U.S.)
- Australia and U.S. driving most of Mako’s momentum
