Spineology received a Notice of Allowance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for patent application No. 15/476,911, Mesh Spacer Hybrid. The notice includes three independent device claims for the Duo intervertebral implant, which features PEEK intervertebral spacer elements and expandable mesh graft containment.
Duo represents the first combination of PEEK, titanium and graft containment mesh elements, with a design intended to reduce the access necessary for implantation vs. traditional lateral systems. Once filled, the load-sharing, endplate-conforming graft pack expands up to 30mm wide to support spinal correction and fusion.
In 4Q17, the device entered a prospective postmarket lateral interbody fusion study to assess patient outcomes.
