Spine Wave expanded the Proficient® Posterior Cervical Spine system with implants to address complex posterior cervical/thoracic procedures.
Specifically, a new translation screw provides medial-to-lateral translation to ease rod placement; also now available are screw-to-rod lateral connectors, rod-to-rod connectors and smooth-shank screws as an alternative to fixate the uppermost cervical spine. These features complement Proficient’s tri-lobe polyaxial screw design that supports 120 degrees of angulation.
Proficient, which initially launched in mid-3Q17, is the company’s first internally-developed system addressing the cervical spine. Plans are in place to fully launch an anterior cervical technology in mid-year.
