VirtaMed is working with Smith & Nephew (SNN) to provide surgical simulation training for its arthroscopic systems. SNN’s instruments will be incorporated into new simulation modules for knee, shoulder and hip arthroscopy, including techniques such as rotator cuff and meniscal repair.
Crescent and L-shaped rotator cuff tears can be repaired using SNN’s HEALICOIL suture anchors, the FIRSTPASS suture passer, ULTRATAPE sutures and the MULTIFIX implant system. The FAST-FIX 360 Meniscal Repair System will also be made available for simulated knee arthroscopy procedures.
All of SNN’s new simulators will be accessible via Connect, VirtaMed’s cloud-based simulation management platform, so physicians can continue their training online, even when away from the simulator.
Smith & Nephew’s ArthroS™ simulators will debut in 4Q19.
