Study results indicate that Rotation Medical’s Bioinductive Implant, a system for rotator cuff repair, may consistently heal rotator cuff tears, increase tendon thickness and prevent tear progression.
Thirty-three patients were assessed at 3 and 12 months post-op, with 12-month results including:
- Significant improvement in clinical scores, with mean tendon thickness increased by 2mm, and new tissue indistinguishable from underlying tendon
- 94% of patients showing complete healing or considerable reduction in defect size
- 94% of patients citing satisfaction to the level of “agree” to “strongly agree”
- No tears progressing to full-thickness in patients who followed the post-op rehab protocol
The REBUILD Registry Study is also underway, measuring key health economic drivers in support of use of the implant.
Last month, Smith & Nephew entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Rotation Medical for US $125MM in cash, with up to $85MM in potential additional performance-based milestone payments.
Update 12/6/17: Smith & Nephew closed its purchase of Rotation Medical.
