Osso VR Partners with MicroPort Orthopedics, Launching a VR Training Module for New Hip and Knee System

Osso VR is launching a virtual reality training module for MicroPort Orthopedics' SuperPATH® Hip Technique and Evolution® Medial-Pivot Knee System.

SuperPATH is a portal assisted total hip approach that accesses the capsule superiorly through the interval between the gluteus medius and piriformis without requiring the cutting of any muscles or tendons. When compared to national averages, patients treated with the SuperPath technique have stayed in the hospital for a shorter amount of time, been discharged directly to their home more often, and are less likely to return within 30 days for any reason.

The Evolution Medial-Pivot Knee replicates the natural stability and motion of the knee with a functionally-restorative design that addresses instability, anterior knee pain and functional limitations.

With Osso VR's virtual reality curriculum, surgeons can train and assess themselves on the workflow of the procedures at their own pace, allowing them to rapidly become proficient.

The technology provides realistic, haptic-enhanced interactions in an immersive training environment, offering on-demand, cinematic-quality educational experiences that are effective, repeatable and measurable.

“We’re committed to improving outcomes for patients through democratized access to high value systems like SuperPath® and Evolution®. This partnership with MicroPort Orthopedics increases access to a wider library of surgical techniques while also supporting controlled, high quality outcomes for patients,” said Justin Barad, MD, Co-Founder and CEO of Osso VR. “As we face unprecedented challenges in the “new normal” in the COVID era, remote VR training and assessment has proven to be a critical tool in ensuring healthcare professionals continue to have safe access to the highest value techniques for their patients.”
