Within the quarter, KIDS increased investment in consigned sets to $5.5MM, and affirmed that they are on target to increase investments in set deployment to $10MM for the full year. Nine U.S. sales reps joined in 1Q, for a total of 84 reps focusing exclusively on the company. Overseas, KIDS added two new stocking distributors for a total of 37.
KIDS is launching five new surgical systems in 2018, starting with Titanium PediPlates and an upgrade to the PediFlex Advanced system. Others to come include an Osteogenesis Imperfecta Nail and PediFoot, which leadership claims will be the first pediatric fracture system for the foot.
After the quarter’s close, KIDS announced FDA 510(k) clearance for the Pediatric Nailing Platform | FEMUR, its 25th surgical system. This is the second lower extremity IM nail system that the company will launch this year.
