OrthoPediatrics launched the PediFoot Deformity Correction system in the U.S. following its FDA 510(k) clearance in 3Q19.
PediFoot is reportedly the first pediatric-specific system to address foot/ankle fractures and deformities. It includes small plates and screws to treat cavus foot, flatfoot, clubfoot and hallux valgus deformities with a focus on lateral column lengthening, calcaneal slide osteotomies, opening, and closing wedge osteotomies and arthrodesis procedures.
PediFoot is the company’s first system to employ StarLoc™ variable angle locking screw technology. It also incorporates PediPedal, a combination of non-slip platforms and a handle to enable repeatable, simulated weight-bearing x-rays intraoperatively.
Joe Hauser, OrthoPediatrics’ Vice President of Trauma & Deformity Correction, said, “With a heightened focus on instrumentation and intra-operative ease, the entire system is contained in one tray with innovative instrumentation that aids in reproducible correction and optimizes time in the operating room. This is the first of many launches to address pediatric foot and ankle procedures.”
