Orthofix (OFIX) realigned its strategic business units, formerly BioStim, Spine Fixation, Spinal Kinetics, Biologics and Extremity Fixation, into Global Orthofix Extremities and Global Orthofix Spine. Mr. Brad Niemann is promoted to President of Global Orthofix Spine, which comprises BioStim, Spine Fixation, Spinal Kinetics and Biologics. Mr. Davide Bianchi continues to lead Orthofix Extremities.
The action is intended to position OFIX for growth and "realize opportunities that can only be achieved by leveraging our full portfolio of spine solutions,” commented President and CEO, Brad Mason. The spine portfolio includes the M6® cervical and lumbar artificial discs, which OFIX acquired through its purchase of Spinal Kinetics in 1Q18.
In 2013, OFIX had segmented its units from categories of Spine and Orthopaedics into BioStim (stimulation products), Spine Fixation (spine implant products), Extremity Fixation (International and U.S. orthopaedic fixation systems) and Biologics (for all applications).
OFIX will continue to report its financial performance in the four-unit structure until the transition completes in early 2019, but thereafter will continue to provide revenue transparency into extremities, stimulation, spine hardware, biologics and Spinal Kinetics product groups.
