NuVasive launched Pulse™, an integrated platform to support all types of spine surgical procedures with multiple enabling technologies.
Pulse combines neuromonitoring, surgical planning, rod bending, radiation reduction, imaging and navigation for support of minimally invasive surgical techniques, which can lead to reduced blood loss and length of hospital stays with less operative morbidity compared to open spine surgery.
Limited clinical release testing of the platform demonstrated initial validation that the Pulse structural design supports broad clinical utility throughout the entire surgery, and is useable in 100% of spine surgeries, from fusions to complex corrections. Independent device access allows O.R. staff to view imaging and insights in real time and in parallel to ease workflow. An open, modular architecture allows surgeons to choose the tools they need to address specific pathologies.
Hardware and software modules include:
- 2D- and 3D-imaging and navigation, featuring Siemens Healthineers’ Cios Spin 3D mobile C-arm
- Surgical pre-operative planning with Integrated Global Alignment® (iGA®) to intra-operatively assess the surgical approach and effects on spinal alignment
- Neuromonitoring
- Smart imaging with radiation reduction through LessRay®, which can reduce exposure in the O.R. by as much as 80% vs. standard fluoroscopy
- Computer-assisted rod bending with Bendini®
Pulse’s capabilities can be expanded for robotics and smart tools. NuVasive plans to unveil its spine robotics module in 3Q19.
