NuVasive (NUVA) launched ALIF Access, its first MAS® (Maximum Access Surgery) ALIF retractor for lateral and supine spine surgery approaches.
Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion Access is compatible with all NUVA anterior implants. It features a radiolucent carbon fiber frame and a retractor blade with customizable size and positioning. In the lateral approach, the system supports single-position surgery. In the supine approach, it offers enhanced imaging and direct visualization.
As noted by Mr. Greg Lucier, CEO, “With the launch of XLIF Crestline, lateral ALIF and lateral MIS fixation, we’re enabling single-position surgery for lateral from T6 to S1. These new technologies are designed to increase operating room efficiency by reducing the frequency at which a patient has to be repositioned, expanding the benefits of lateral surgery to more spinal levels and decreasing the duration a patient is under anesthesia. While these launches are in the early stages, we’re encouraged by the feedback we’re receiving from surgeons who are extremely pleased with the ease of the procedure and the significant time savings it is able to provide.” —NUVA’s 4Q17 Earnings Call
