NuVasive (NUVA) launched 3D-printed, fully porous Modulus® XLIF® titanium implants. The new system expands the offerings used in NUVA’s XLIF procedure, which is reportedly the only lateral approach accompanied by 15+ years of clinical evidence.
In the 2Q17 earnings call, leadership had noted that clinical validation of the device was underway in preparation for this launch. NUVA joins the group of companies using additive technologies to allow control over a device material’s stiffness, to more closely mimic bone. Additive techniques are expected to be used in the company’s ACDF, ALIF and TLIF devices, as well.
