NovApproach Spine, developer of the OneLIF interbody spinal fusion system, which supports a multitude of surgical approaches, announced today its entry into the Panamanian market with two surgeries performed last week.
Dr. Gamaliel Gonzalez Atencio at the Instituto Panameño de Ortopedia y Dolor (Panamanian Institute of Orthopedics and Pain) is the first surgeon to use the OneLIF cage outside of the United States. After performing surgery on one patient with advanced degenerative disc disease and another with spinal stenosis adjacent to a previously fused segment of the spine, he reported that the OneLIF cage enabled him to “carry out surgery through an ante-psoas (ATP) approach with the patient in a lateral decubitus position, for a quicker and more efficient recovery.”
According to NovApproach Spine CEO Raymond Cloutier, “The NovApproach Spine team considers it a privilege to be able to support Dr. Gamaliel Gonzalez Atencio in his work to provide excellent spinal care for his patients.”
The OneLIF interbody fusion cage is designed to simplify implant insertion and fixation in the widest range of pathologies. The patented system supports Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion procedures, the Lateral Anterior-to-Psoas approach and the Supine Anterior-to-Psoas approach to spinal surgery.
