Merete was granted U.S. Patent No. 9,545,276, covering the MetaFix PlantarMax plate Lapidus plantar fixation device.
The Metafix PlantarMax plate is designed to take advantage of biomechanically superior fixation on the tension side of the Metatarsal/Cuneiform joint during a Lapidus Hallux Valgus correction. A medial incision allows adequate exposure of the MTC joint for joint preparation and plate fixation.
The MetaFix PlantarMax plate, which received FDA 510(k) clearance in 2013, includes two plantar locking screws, an interfragmentary screw hole and two medial locking (or non-locking) screws for additional fixation.
