ORTHOWORLD estimates Medtronic’s (MDT) FY4Q18 revenue at US $787.0MM, +3.7% vs. FY4Q17 (quarter ended 4/27/18).
1Q18 | 1Q17 | $ Change | % Change | |
Spine | $641.0 | $626.0 | $15.0 | 2.4% |
Orthobiologics | $146.0 | $133.0 | $13.0 | 9.8% |
Total | $787.0 | $759.0 | $28.0 | 3.7% |
Growth was driven by high-single-digit constant currency increases in both BMP revenue and the OLIF lateral approach, and offset by low-single-digit declines in the company’s Core Spine segment.
Leadership also cited double-digit growth in Prestige LP cervical discs and strong adoption of the SOLERA VOYAGER 5.5/6.0 fixation system, as well as the ARTiC-L 3D printed titanium cage. Surgical Synergy, a strategy that combines surgical enabling tools (imaging, navigation, powered instruments, nerve monitoring and Mazor Robotics) with MDT’s spine implants, is also contributing to overall growth in spine.
The INFINITY posterior cervical system is coming to market, though no launch date was specified.
